Conclusion

This research has examined students’ groupwork experiences and attitude and analyzed groupwork features and students’ engagement relationships.

  • The major benefit of groupwork is a shared view from different perspective and learning from others.

  • The biggest challenge is difficulties in finding time to meet and cooperate with their group.

  • Sufficient instructions and information from teachers influence students’ groupwork preference significantly.

  • It is also essential for achievement of fairness and equity in groupwork processes.

  • Open-ended, productively uncertain and complex group tasks positively affect students' academic engagement.

  • Finding the balance between uncertainty that is productive and sparks creativity and uncertainty that is debilitating and leads to confusion is a challenge.
